NCAUTE: The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Referee Instructor David Muhepo Kamukwanyama has died in a tragic car accident on Sunday afternoon.
Kamukwanyama, 42, died with his wife after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned at Ncaute community Forestry area situated some 60km south of Rundu at around 15h00.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Crime Investigations Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton informed Nampa on Monday, that Kamukwanyama and his wife with three other passengers were traveling from south to north where after the driver of that vehicle with registration number N7190RU lost control and overturned.
Kamukwanyama and his wife identified as Lena Kasimbi, 35, who was the female driver, died instantly.
The three other passengers who sustained injuries are Elias Matamu, 24, Frogencia Kuyina, and Sigobert Mukoso, both female ages unknown.
The three passengers are currently admitted in the Rundu State Hospital.
The deceased’s next of kin were already informed and police have opened a case of culpable homicide.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of NFA’s of National Referee’s Committee Rudolph Mupiri in few words described Kamukwanyama’s tragic death as a great loss to football and the referee’s committee in particular.
Mupiri said Kamukwanyama, is among the four people accredited by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), as instructors in the Namibia.
Before his appointment as the country’s FIFA Referee instructor, Kamukwanyama, an employee of the Namibia Defense Force (NDF), served on the country’s FIFA Referee Panel.
Mupiri said Kamukwanyama, recently attended FIFA Referees Instructor’s course in Swaziland and has been giving referee beginner’s course countrywide.
