Ethiopia and African Development Bank Enhance Partnership for Development

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopia’s Finance Minister, Ahmed Shide, and the Executive Director of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Jonathan Nzayikorera, have agreed to strengthen their collaboration further during a consultative meeting held in Addis Ababa.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the meeting focused on the Bank’s significant contributions to Ethiopia’s socio-economic development, including its current portfolio operations, technical assistance for reforms, and capacity-building efforts.

The minister praised the AfDB for its pivotal role in coordinating regional projects and supporting the Horn of Africa Initiative (HoAI), emphasizing the importance of the Bank’s continued collaboration and support in mobilizing additional resources for Ethiopia. He also highlighted the necessity for swift approval of upcoming projects to enhance the country’s development trajectory.

On his part, Nzayikorera outlined the AfDB’s ongoing support across various sectors in Ethiopia, including infrastructure, agriculture, water, and agro-industrial value chains. He reiterated the Bank’s commitment to assisting both the public and private sectors in the country.

Both parties committed to maintaining constant communication and timely dialogue to ensure stronger collaboration, aiming to foster sustainable development in Ethiopia and the broader region. The African Development Bank, dedicated to fighting poverty and improving living conditions on the continent, continues to support projects and programs that contribute to the economic and social development of Africa.
