Valentin Kaboré Appointed as New Regional Director of South-West National Police

GAOUA – In a ceremony on Friday, May 10, 2024, Valentin Kaboré assumed the role of Regional Director of the South-West National Police. The installation event took place in Gaoua, marking a significant leadership transition within the region’s law enforcement. Kaboré, who formerly served as the provincial director of the Nahouri National Police, was officially appointed to his new position by the Council of Ministers on April 25, 2024.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Lucien Guéguéré, representing the governor of the South-West, Boureima Savadogo, Kaboré replaces divisional police commissioner Yacouba Ouattara, who has been appointed regional director of the Eastern National Police. The ceremony was attended by local officials and police staff, where Kaboré expressed his commitment to the principles of the police force, emphasizing the need for unity, discipline, and mutual respect.

Kaboré highlighted the importance of collective effort and integrity in achieving the police’s mission. He also called on the community and his team to unite against the challenges facing the region, particularly emphasizing the ongoing battle against forces undermining national security. The new director appealed for support from both administrative and traditional authorities to aid in fulfilling his duties effectively.

Outgoing director Yacouba Ouattara took the opportunity to thank his colleagues and the various levels of leadership for their support during his tenure, which lasted over 16 months. He commended the work done by the police under his leadership and expressed gratitude towards the community for their cooperation.

Valentin Kaboré’s career in law enforcement includes significant positions of responsibility, culminating in this latest appointment. He is married and a father of four.
