Sayouba Sigué Assumes Role as New Provincial Director of Environment in Ganzourgou

Zorgho — On Thursday, October 26, 2023, Sayouba Sigué was officially installed as the new provincial director of the environment of Ganzourgou in a ceremony held in Zorgho.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, the high commissioner of the province of Ganzourgou, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, the event was attended by key provincial forces and collaborators of both the incoming and outgoing directors.

Sayouba Sigué, who previously served as a water and forest inspector, replaces Pascal Balima, who had been in the role for 2 years and 11 months. Balima was praised for his management by Naba Lamourdia François, the staff representative of the provincial environment directorate. Under Balima’s tenure, the directorate achieved over 100% revenue collection annually, mobilized more than 50 million CFA francs in aggregate tax for the town hall, and created more than ten groves.

In his remarks, Naba Lamourdia François thanked Balima for his contributions and welcomed Sigué, assuring him of the staff’s commitment to support him in his new role.

Following his installation, Sayouba Sigué expressed gratitude to the highest authorities in the country, particularly the minister in charge of the environment, for entrusting him with this position. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the current state of insecurity and population displacement, which exert significant pressure on the environment. Sigué committed to working diligently to merit the trust placed in him.

He also invited all staff, administrative authorities, and active forces to support him in his duties. Sigué extended his congratulations to his predecessor, Pascal Balima, for the work he had done and pledged to build upon those achievements.

High Commissioner Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba recognized the service rendered by the outgoing director and encouraged the incoming director to maintain open channels of communication with his colleagues and the hierarchy. She expressed the commitment of all active forces in the province to support him.

Sayouba Sigué was officially appointed as the new provincial director of the environment of Ganzourgou on October 4, 2023, in a Council of Ministers meeting.
