Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis to participate in the EU General Affairs Council (Brussels, 21.09.2021)

Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, will participate tomorrow, Tuesday, September 21, in the EU General Affairs Council to be held with physical presence in Brussels.

The agenda includes the presentation of the Slovenian Presidency priorities for the coming months. The Presidency will also provide information about the Conference on the Future of Europe. Furthermore, prominent items on the agenda will be the preparation of the European Council on October 21 and 22, the assessment of the current situation regarding EU COVID-19 coordination and the state of play in EU-UK relations. Finally, the Commission will present its letter of intent concerning its draft work program for 2022 and its annual foresight report.

In the framework of the General Affairs Council, the Alternate Minister will brief his counterparts on the results of the EU Mediterranean Countries (EUMED) Summit, held in Athens on Friday, September 17, as well as on the special event that took place, in the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe, in Thessaloniki, on September 15, titled “The Western Balkans join the Dialogue on the Future of Europe”.
