Houet: The Minister of Infrastructure reports on the state of the sites of his department

The Minister of Infrastructure and Opening Up, Adama Luc Sorgho, hosted a press conference on Saturday March 18, 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso, to discuss the current and planned projects in his department. .

After a tour of the Hauts-Bassins and Cascades road sites, the Minister of Infrastructure and Accessibility, Adama Luc Sorgho, unveiled his projects in progress and those which will start soon, during a press briefing, the Saturday March 18, 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso.

He indicated that these projects concern both new road construction (Editor’s note: asphalting and development of rural roads) as well as road rehabilitation and maintenance.

The Minister said that the security situation has undermined the proper execution of road infrastructure works for nearly two years.

“One of the consequences was the stopping of many construction sites,” he noted.

But to listen to him, some of the sites formerly stopped have resumed and others will restart “in the coming days and weeks”.

These are the rehabilitation works of the National Road 4 (RN4) Fada N’Gourma-Kantchari-Niger Border, the construction and asphalting works of the RN22 Kongoussi-Djibo and those of the RN18 Fada N’Gourma- Bogande.

Adama Luc Sorgho specified that the resumption of works was possible thanks to the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the resilience of the agents of the ministry and the companies in charge of the works.

Concerning the sites which have just started or which will start shortly, Mr. Sorgho cited, among other things, the development and asphalting of 50.7 km of urban roads in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, the development of 541.129 km of tracks rural areas, the development and asphalting of the Dandé-Kourouma, Boulsa-Kalwatenga and Ouahigouya-Djibo roads and the rehabilitation of Pâ-Dano-Diébougou and Bobo-Dioulasso-Orodara.

The journalists were particularly interested in certain roads in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, in particular the Lèguèma road which leads to the Medical Center with surgical antenna (CMA) of Dafra and the road which leads to the Guimbi Ouattara mausoleum and also on the fate of the Koundougou-Solenzo road.

Minister Sorgho has indicated that a budget of 4.6 billion CFA francs has been retained for the Lèguèma road and 951 million CFA francs for the second road.

Which budget to be supported by the Road Maintenance Fund.

“Works on the Koundougou-Solenzo road have been suspended pending better security conditions,” he concluded.
