João Lourenço highlights formalization of economic agents by PREI

Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, highlighted today, in Luanda, the formalization of more than 253,038 economic agents, through the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI).

When delivering the Message on the State of the Nation, on the occasion of the Solemn Opening Session of the 2023-2024 Parliamentary Year of the V Legislature, he highlighted that more than 5,700 economic agents were financed by public instruments.

He said that among the financed agents, there are around 2,250 women who received approximately AKz 5.680,000, having created around 7,950 jobs for 2,700 women.

The Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI), designed by the Government of the Republic of Angola, was created to promote the transition from the informal economy to the formal economy in the country.

PREI is focused on a process of formalizing the economic activity of informal operators.

The Formalization Process is coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) and implemented by an in
tersectoral team, with the support of the European Union.

The ongoing formalization process began in Luanda, in the ”Trinta” market, with the engagement of an intersectoral team, made up of the National Directorate of Identification, Registration and Notary, Municipal Administration, General Tax Administration (AGT), Guiché Único da Empresa (GUE), National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP).

It also includes the National Institute for Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM), the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and the Micro-credit companies that have been formalizing the businesses of informal operators registered in the first phase.
