Banakélédaga Bridge Construction Reaches Over Halfway Point in Burkina Faso

BANAKÉLÉDAGA, Burkina Faso — Minister of Infrastructure and Opening Up, Adama Luc Sorgho, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the Banakélédaga bridge in the Houet province, after a site visit on Friday. The bridge, critical for enhancing regional connectivity, is currently 56% complete, with works being carried out by Malian company BECM-CG.

According to Burkina Information Agency, director general of the Burkina Infrastructure Works Agency (AGETIB), a significant aspect of the project is the inclusion of a ten-year guarantee in the contract. Lompo revealed plans for the bridge to be completed by next August, barring any adverse weather conditions. This project forms part of a broader initiative comprising 36 other constructions across six regions of Burkina Faso, all part of the Emergency Territorial Development and Resilience Project, funded by the World Bank at a cost of over 1 billion FCFA.

The completion of the Banakélédaga bridge, located in the commune of Bama, is anticipated to boost both the economic and social development of the area by improving the year-round mobility of people and goods.
