Wajir County Supports Police Reservists with Ramadan Food Aid

WAJIR COUNTY—In a significant show of support for National Police Reserves (NPR) during the holy month of Ramadan, Wajir County has initiated a food distribution program in Tarbaj Sub County. The County Commissioner, Karuku Ngumo, and Tarbaj Member of Parliament, Hussein Abdi Bare, led the event, marking a crucial effort to aid NPR officers and their families.

According to Kenya News Agency, the initiative distributed 20 tonnes of food, including 400 bags of rice and 120 bags of beans, each weighing 50 kilograms, to assist NPR personnel during Ramadan. The gesture is particularly meaningful in the context of the region’s security challenges, acknowledging the reservists’ role in maintaining peace and stability, especially against threats from insurgent groups like al-Shabab.

Commissioner Ngumo took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the NPR officers for their dedication and sacrifice. He highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing their needs, stating, “I came to meet them as the chair of the county security committee. I have listened to their grievances, and while some have been addressed today, there are others that require further attention from our Nairobi headquarters.” Ngumo emphasized the importance of recognizing and supporting the reservists’ contributions to national security.

Echoing the commissioner’s remarks, MP Hussein Abdi Bare praised the NPR officers for their courage and resolve, particularly in light of the upcoming Ramadan celebrations. He stressed the importance of ensuring that these officers, who play a critical role in safeguarding the community, can observe the religious occasion with their families and loved ones.
