Minister Kubayi launches revised government housing programme for middle-income earners

In a quest to encourage home ownership, the Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi and Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete , will launch the revised government funded housing subsidy programme for middle-income earners at the Sky City Affordable Housing Development in Gauteng.

Formerly known as the Financed Linked Individually Subsidy Programme (FLISP) or Help-Me-Buy-A-Home, which was meant to assist in making first-time home ownership affordable, the new programme will now also cater for non-mortgage approved beneficiaries who intend to among other options, build their own houses in rural areas and cities’ serviced sites.

The Sky City Housing Development, where the relaunch of the revised programme will take place, is the largest privately funded affordable housing development in the province expected to yield more than 22 000 housing opportunities on completion, there are more than 6000 housing units delivered already, of these, 1374 are funded by the government through Help-Me-Buy-A-Home.

During the launch, Minister Kubayi will unveil a new logo that repositions Help-Me-Buy-a-Home and new offerings aligned with the revised policy. She will also launch a new portal intended to simplify the application process for a large pool of potential beneficiaries.
