Somali and Italian Parliament Speakers Forge Stronger Ties in Rome

In Rome, the Speaker of the Somali Parliament, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobobe), met with his Italian counterpart, Lorenzo Forni. The two Speakers discussed how to strengthen the long-standing partnership and collaboration between their Parliaments, which share a rich heritage and culture. They agreed to form a friendship committee to foster closer ties between their two countries.

Lorenzo Forni commended Sheikh Adan for the remarkable achievements of the People’s Assembly in its three sessions. He also expressed Italy’s steadfast support for Somalia’s fight against the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, stressing the need for international cooperation in this effort.

The two Speakers exchanged views on important security issues, the current status of their bilateral relations, and ways to enhance cooperation between Somalia and Italy.
