Ghana Allocates $83 Million to Boost Private Sector in Agriculture

Ghana – The Ghanaian government has announced a significant investment of 83 million dollars in the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) to enhance the implementation of the Economic Enclaves Project (EEP). This initiative, which began in 2022, is geared towards bolstering private sector engagement in large-scale commercial agriculture across several regions in the country.

According to Africa News Agency, the EEP aims to develop agricultural estates in the Central, North West, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Savannah, and Oti regions of Ghana. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to promote agriculture, a sector contributing 19% to the nation’s GDP. The primary focus of this project will be on vital agricultural sectors such as rice, tomatoes, maize, soya, vegetables, and poultry, underlining the government’s commitment to diversifying and strengthening its agricultural base.
