Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness Kostas Fragogiannis’ participation in the international Delphi Economic Forum (07.04.2022)

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness Kostas Fragogiannis spoke about the crucial role of economic diplomacy in addressing the difficult challenges of the contemporary international environment, in a comprehensive discussion with journalist Giorgos Mouroutis, in the context of his participation in the international Delphi Economic Forum, held this year with physical attendance.

The Deputy Minister referred, inter alia, to the reform work of the government regarding the support of Greek entrepreneurship, with its key milestones being: a) the subordination of all bodies responsible for the extroversion of the economy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, b) the preparation of the annual National Strategic Openness Plan, the roadmap of the country’s international economic relations, c) the recent reform of the national export credit insurance organization and, d) the introduction of the necessary legislation to improve the investment environment in the country.

Asked about the current crisis in Ukraine and in particular about its implications on the Greek economy, Mr. Fragogiannis stressed that, in addition to the apparent priority of ending the war and addressing the humanitarian crisis, the efforts of economic diplomacy are focused on ensuring the sufficiency of energy and raw materials, as well as the expansion and diversification of markets, with the aim of providing the best possible protection for Greek entrepreneurship.

On the sidelines of his participation in the international Delphi Economic Forum, Mr. Fragogiannis will hold meetings with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovachevski and the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic Affairs and Investments, Fatmir Bytyqi, as well as with the Kosovar Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kreshnik Ahmeti and the Latvian Executive Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis.
