Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andreas Katsaniotis’ statement at the ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ international airport, upon his return to Athens with the Holy Fire (Athens, 23.04.2022)

This year I had the honour to attend the Holy Fire Ceremony at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, representing the Greek Government.

I received from the hands of His Holiness the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III the Holy and Everlasting Fire and I brought it to our homeland, along with the message of the Resurrection. In a short while, the Holy Fire will reach all parts of the Greek territory.

Let us hope that the Light of the Resurrection will shine upon us and guide us, while transmitting the message of optimism, joy and hope across the world.

Especially, these days, due to the situation in suffering Ukraine, the message of the importance of life and peace remains extremely relevant.
