Security Intensified in Laikipia for KCSE Examinations Amidst Seasonal Rains

NANYUKI – As the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations commence, Laikipia County has ramped up security measures to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted process for candidates taking the national exams.

According to Kenya News Agency, who spoke during the opening of the national examination storage container in Nanyuki on Monday, detailed instructions have been given to security personnel, invigilators, and centre managers to oversee the orderly conduct of the exams. “A comprehensive security plan has been put in place, and we are confident that the exams will proceed without any issues,” Kanyiri affirmed.

He further mentioned that logistics have been carefully coordinated, with special attention given to transportation, considering the current rainfalls affecting the region. “We have ensured the availability of suitable 4×4 vehicles for safe and timely delivery of examination materials to all centers,” he added.

The county commissioner also highlighted the contingency measures put in place to address the challenges posed by potential flash floods in certain areas of the county, advising exam center managers to remain vigilant and request assistance for airlifting examination papers if necessary.

Across Laikipia County, approximately 11,026 students are expected to take part in the KCSE examinations today, contributing to the national total of 903,260 candidates. The exams, which started on October 23 with practical assessments, continue today with students sitting for Chemistry and English Paper 1 theory tests. The schedule indicates that Mathematics Paper 1 and English Paper 2 will follow on Tuesday, with the examination period set to span one month.

The robust security measures and the logistical readiness emphasized by the county’s leadership underscore the government’s commitment to facilitating a fair and successful examination period for all candidates involved.
