Captain Ibrahim Traoré Encourages Burkinabè to Engage in Community Shareholding for National Development


Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – During his New Year’s address on national television, President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, called on the citizens of Burkina Faso to actively participate in the country’s development through the Agency for the Promotion of the Community Economy (APEC).



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Presidential Initiative for Community Development, set to take further strides in 2024, is a key part of this developmental approach. He emphasized the importance of this initiative for local traders and the overall development of Burkina Faso’s various localities.



The Burkinabé head of state, speaking in Ouagadougou, outlined that APEC has been established to facilitate the creation of numerous factories and that more initiatives are expected in the coming year. These efforts aim to foster endogenous development and bolster the nation’s economy.



In addition to economic development, Traoré also highlighted the importance of sanitation and urbanization. He urged citizens to work towards improving their living environments, making them more pleasant and sustainable.



The address follows the official launch of the Community Entrepreneurship Program through popular shareholding by President Traoré on June 12, 2023. This program represents a significant step in involving citizens directly in the economic development and revitalization of their communities.
