Bobo-Dioulasso Reports Cycling Triumph at FNPSL Event

Bobo-Dioulasso – Arouna Ilboudo claimed victory in the 3rd edition of the FNPSL cycling race held on the Boulevard de la Révolution. Representing the Association of Young Cyclists of Koudougou (AJCK), Ilboudo finished first, outpacing his teammate Souleymane Tall, who came in second.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Ilboudo completed the race, which consisted of 22 laps totaling 123.86 km, in 3 hours, 27 minutes, and 15 seconds, achieving an average speed of 35.852 km/h. His performance secured him the yellow jersey, a trophy, and a prize of 1 million FCFA. Tall, who followed, received 750,000 FCFA.

Ilboudo’s significant breakaway occurred after the 19th lap, extending his lead by 4 minutes and 20 seconds over Tall, enabling him to maintain his lead until the end.

The competition also featured a women’s race, where Lamoussa Zoungrana defeated Adèle Guissou, taking home 500,000 FCFA.

The cycling event coincided with the 21st edition of the national culture week, aiming to promote local culture through sports. The race was inaugurated by Dr. Boubakar Savadogo, Minister of Sports, Youth, and Employment, alongside other notable officials.
