Maake police arrest three suspects after business robbery

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe hailed the police in Maake for their persistence and determination that saw them tracking down Business Robbery suspects and recover valuable items. This was a strong message that a fight against criminal activities that are committed across the province are strongly dealt with by the industrious men and women in blue.
Evidently, three male suspects were arrested after an armed robbery in Maake policing area in the early hours of Saturday 16 September 2023 at about 01:30.
It is alleged that a 39-year-old male victim who is an owner of a tavern at Solani village was outside the premises intending to lock the doors when he was accosted by five unknown males who allegedly pointed him with a firearm.
The suspects fired one shot to threaten him and forcefully took the victim inside the premises to hand over an undisclosed amount of cash, liquor and cigarettes. Afterwards, the suspects loaded a laptop and Generator worth inside a white Isuzu bakkie belonging to the owner before fleeing the scene and headed to Bodweni village.
The Farm-Watch Security spotted a suspicious white Isuzu while patrolling the area and followed it until it stopped at a graveyard. While the suspects were busy offloading the generator, one of the suspects saw a Security Officer and fired two shots at a him and later took his firearm with ammunition.
The suspects left the Security Officer who went to inform his manager at Wildwalk Farm and Police’ were summoned to the scene. A manhunt of the suspects was conducted in the vicinity and three suspects were found hiding in the bushes and were immediately apprehended.
The motor vehicle belonging to the owner of the tavern was later found abandoned along the R36 road in Letsitele Policing precinct.
A manhunt for the other two suspects is underway and anyone with information that can assist with information leading to apprehension of the suspects should urgently contact the Investigating Officer Colonel Le Mans on 079 875 7951 or crime stop number 08600 10111 or nearest Police Station or MySAPSApp.
The suspects whose ages are still to be determined are expected to appear before the Maake Magistrate Court on Monday 2023-09-18 facing charges of business robbery.
