The Speaker of the Senate Meets with the EU Ambassador to Somalia

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Speaker of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Mr. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, welcomed the new EU Ambassador to Somalia, Ms. Karin Johansson, in a meeting focused on the country’s current situation and development.

According to Somali National News Agency, the meeting centered on the overall situation in Somalia, the constitutional review process, and how the European Union could contribute to the development activities of the Upper House of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS). The EU maintains a strong relationship with the Somali government, supporting various sectors including development, economy, security, training, and nation-building.

Ambassador Johansson, who recently presented her credentials to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Dhusamareeb on September 18, 2023, has started her diplomatic tenure by engaging with key Somali officials.
