SPYL condemns killing of Malaka at Rundu

The Swapo Party Youth League has in its strongest term condemned the killing of one of its members 18-year-old Sipilikita Alpo Malaka at Rundu last week Friday.

Malaka was shot by an unknown man in the chest at Millennium residential area at around 22h00.

SPYL Secretary Ephraim Nekongo in a media statement said they learned with shock about the passing of one of their own, whose life was cut short by those with motives to destroy communities.

‘SPYL in the strongest term rejects this kind of heartless killing and we are calling on law enforcement to invest all necessary resources and human capital available to ensure that the culprit is apprehended and face the law,’ he said.

Namibia he stated is a peaceful country and such kind of behaviours should be condemned by all means and discouraged everyone with similar intentions to not commit such crimes.

‘On behalf of the SPYL ranks and files, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family and friends during this difficult time.
May the almighty God give you all the strength you need during this difficult time and beyond,’ he noted.

Meanwhile, on Thursday residents of Rundu held a peaceful demonstration to protest the killing of Malaka.

The protesters marched from the Millennium residential area to the Police Regional headquarters to submit their petition to the Regional Commander.

Malaka was a grade 10 learner at Rundu Senior Secondary School.
