Nairobi Governor Supports Bipartisan Talks

Nairobi Governor Johnstone Sakaja has thrown his weight behind the ongoing bipartisan talks between Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio la Umoja One-Kenya Coalition.
Sakaja dismissed those against the talks as enemies of peace and urged them to trust President William Ruto since he was duly elected and has the mandate to lead.
Speaking in Uasin Gishu County, where he represented President William Ruto during the 120th anniversary of the Reformed Church of East Africa (RCEA) celebrations, Sakaja asked those leaders opposed to the process to give dialogue a chance for peace and unity to prevail in the country.
He regretted that a section of the political leaders in the country were not happy about the dialogue, which is being spearheaded by representatives from the ruling coalition and the opposition parties, respectively.
He said he lost nine people in protests that were being held in Nairobi and welcomed the bipartisan approach, expressing optimism that it would bring positive results.
Sakaja said he was confident the talks would succeed since the agenda had been agreed on, but the first thing was for all to agree and accept that the President is William Ruto, who was duly elected.
The governor said the country was not ready for another round of mass actions in major towns, noting that several devolved units and traders incurred losses running into billions of shillings during such protests.
‘It is time to focus on wananchi; it is time to let the President work and deliver for the people; the country is not ready to go back on demonstrations,’ stressed Sakaja, who was accompanied by Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, Governor Jonathan Bii, nominated Senator Prof. Margret Kamar, Turkana Senator James Lomenen, Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkonga, and his Kesses counterpart Julius Ruto, among other leaders.
‘Let us give both parties involved in the bi-partisan talks a chance for the sake of our country’s social and economic stability instead of trying to scuttle the process, which has come from a chaotic environment as a result of the deadly protests organised by the opposition supporters,’ said Sakaja.
