Météo Malo Takes Helm as Provincial Director of Water and Sanitation in Sourou

TOUGAN, Salif Traoré, the High Commissioner of the Sourou province, inaugurated Météo Malo as the new Provincial Director of Water and Sanitation on October 23, 2023, in the province’s capital city, Tougan.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Malo is stepping into the role formerly held by Mahamadi Koudougou, who served for a duration of three years and eight months. The outgoing director was praised for his modesty, humility, simplicity, and dedication to his work, which reportedly helped to rebuild trust between agents and partners while achieving significant results.

The achievements highlighted during the tenure of Koudougou focused on various areas including educational and awareness campaigns targeting students, associations, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). These campaigns concentrated on important issues such as hygiene and sanitation, understanding the effects and causes of climate change, combating illegal logging, implementing reforestation programs, and restoring degraded lands.

Despite these accomplishments, Koudougou noted that numerous challenges still remain in the environmental sector of the Sourou province. He encouraged agents to extend the same level of collaboration and support to his successor, Météo Malo, to ensure the success of ongoing and future initiatives.

Salif Traoré, holding the highest administrative position in the province, assured the newly installed Provincial Director of Water and Sanitation of the full support from administrative authorities. He expressed confidence in Malo’s capabilities to drive progress and achieve the expected results in the province’s water and sanitation sector.
