Water and Sanitation on slightly increased KwaZulu-Natal water levels

KZN dam levels slightly increase

A weekly report on dam levels issued by the Department of Water and Sanitation in KwaZulu-Natal earlier this week has shown a minimal increase of the province’s dam levels from last week’s 83.0% to 84.1% this week, during a similar period last year, the province’s overall storage capacity stood at 60.8%.

Nagle Dam recorded 91.2% last week and it is presently at 95.2. One of the province’s largest dams, Albert-Falls Dam, has also seen increased from last week’s 86.7% and to 95.7% this week.

Driel Barrage, Woodstock, Zaaihoek and Bivane Dams remain unchanged at 77.6%, 98.7%, 84.5% and 100% respectively.

Midmar Dam has dropped from last week’s 101.5% to 100.9%. It is however still above the 100% mark. Meanwhile, Inanda Dam has also decreased from 102.4% and this week it is 101.7%.

Spioenkop Dam has taken a dip from 101.9% to 105.4%, Craigie Burn Dam is at 100.7% from 101.2%. Mearns Dam has minimally decreased from 128.6% to 113.1% while Spring Grove Dam has also decreased from 103.8% this week to 101.6%.

The Department has reiterated its call to residents to continue using water sparingly and report any water leaks and water infrastructure vandalism to local municipalities.
