Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis’ meeting with a delegation of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees of the French National Assembly and the French Senate (Thursday, 15. 07. 2021)

Greece and France’s shared vision for the consolidation of stability, security and development in the Eastern Mediterranean region was reaffirmed by Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis today, July 15, during his meeting with a delegation of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees of the French National Assembly and the French Senate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Varvitsiotis underscored the strong commitment of both countries to upholding International Law, while he did not fail to point out the consistent support of France to the Greek positions within the EU.

In particular, bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy and security was discussed at the meeting. In addition, among the issues considered were the possibilities for further coordination within the EU for the complete elimination of the risk of the pandemic, the optimal use of the Recovery Fund, the maximum possible participation of citizens in the Conference on the Future of Europe, as well as the elaboration of a fair and comprehensive European policy to address the migration challenge at the EU’s external borders.

Finally, the Alternate Minister extended his congratulations on the occasion of France’s National Day on July 14 to the French parliamentarians and the French Ambassador present, Mr. Patrick Maisonnave.
