Roots Rabat: The Pan-African Federation of Cinema and Audiovisual Schools presents its initiatives

Rabat, March 17, 2023 (AIB) – The Pan-African Federation of Cinema and Audiovisual Schools presented on Wednesday in Rabat, after two days of workshops, initiatives it has taken “to show the liveliness of the ‘institution’, created just a few weeks ago.

According to the president of the provisional committee Dr. Bangbi Francis Frédéric Kaboré, the initiatives taken by the Federation aim to “show the vivacity of the institution” that they created during the 28 edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou. (FESPACO).

“It is for example, to meet between November and December 2023, in Marrakech to organize a documentary writing workshop, in February 2024 in Rabat for the training of trainers and in September 2024 in Bamako for a training in writing fiction. for students,” he said.

Mr. Kaboré spoke in Rabat after two days (Monday and Wednesday) of a workshop of the Pan-African Federation of Cinema and Audiovisual Schools.

The workshop took place on the sidelines of the 1st edition of Roots Rabat-Days of Pan-African Cinema which was held from Sunday 12 to Thursday 16 March 2023 in Rabat, African Capital of Culture under the High Patronage of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI.

He explained that “these are activities that we (the Federation) wanted to develop quickly to show our ability to collaborate together so as to gauge our pooling capacities, so that after a year, it is that is to say, by March 2024, we can take stock of what we have become”.

The Federation has also planned, in the opinion of its provisional president, to write its statutes and internal regulations by April 15, 2023 and to make them available to all its founding members for assessment and possible amendments.

It also plans a zoom meeting on May 11, 2023 at 9 a.m. to record its documents and vote the office of the federation so as to be able to introduce official recognition as a Federation at the level of the administration of the host country.

The president of the provisional committee Dr. Bangbi Francis Frédéric Kaboré is the director general of the Higher Institute of Image and Sound/Studio-School (ISIS-SE) of Burkina Faso. The Federation currently includes 11 African schools.

During these same two days, the workshop of the Pan-African Network of Cinematographic Centers also took place.
