BBDA Contributes Over 3 Million FCFA to Support Burkina Faso’s Security Forces


OUAHIGOYA – The Burkinabé Copyright Office (BBDA) has donated 3,478,575 FCFA to support Burkina Faso’s security forces in their efforts to reclaim national territories. The announcement came during the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Western Regional Directorate on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the contribution was handed over by the Director General of the BBDA, Hamed known as Patindeba Patric Lega. This financial support is part of a broader initiative by the BBDA to aid the country’s military and defense efforts. The donation was initially announced at the Return of Copyright (RDA) event, held in Ouahigouya from December 15 to 17, 2023, and includes funds from various sources within the organization.



In addition to supporting national security, the BBDA also recognized ten users of protected works for their adherence to copyright laws. These users were awarded the Copyright Compliance Label in a ceremony, encouraging their continued compliance and advocacy for copyright and neighboring rights in Burkina Faso.
