BBDA Opens New Headquarters in Bobo-Dioulasso Amid National Culture Week


BOBO-DIOULASSO – The Burkinabè Copyright Office (BBDA) celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in Bobo-Dioulasso, coinciding with the 21st edition of the National Culture Week. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, led by Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the Minister in charge of Culture and Arts, alongside Amadou Abdourahamane, his counterpart from Niger.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the new facility includes four offices, a multipurpose room, and additional hangars. Plans are already in place to further enhance the premises with the addition of a meeting room, two fee payment counters, and an archive room to accommodate the growing needs of the office.



During the inauguration, Minister Ouédraogo expressed the government’s commitment to supporting artists, emphasizing the importance of their role in fostering peace and security. He assured continued government support for creators, highlighting their vital contributions to the nation.



Hamed Patindeba Lega, the General Director of the BBDA, addressed the artists and staff, urging them to utilize and maintain the new space responsibly. He reassured them of the Western regional management team’s readiness to assist in their projects and address any concerns.



The BBDA, established in 1985, is tasked with protecting and managing the rights of creators of literary and artistic works. The Bobo-Dioulasso office serves the Hauts Bassins region and neighboring areas, ensuring rights management across multiple regions.
