Abuja Community Raises Over 3 Million FCFA for Burkina Faso Peace Efforts

ABUJA—The Burkinabè community in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, has donated more than 3 million FCFA to support Burkina Faso’s peace initiatives and assist internally displaced persons.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the contribution totaling 3,126,500 FCFA was handed over to Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré, Minister Delegate in charge of Regional Cooperation, on Tuesday.

The donation follows a call by Burkina Faso’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, to bolster peace efforts. Passida Pascal Gouba, Deputy Permanent Representative and Charge d’Affaires of Burkina Faso in Abuja, emphasized the diaspora’s commitment to their homeland’s stability and integrity. Gouba also indicated that further donations are expected to continue supporting the peace process.

In 2022, the same community had gathered 15 million FCFA for the cause.
