Waterval Police Apprehend Suspected Robbery Kingpin and Seize Unlicensed Firearm

POLOKWANE – On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Waterval Police apprehended a 54-year-old male suspect in Valdezia village, Vhembe District, for unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to South African Police Service, the available information indicates that police were actively pursuing the suspect, who was wanted for multiple business robberies and had failed to appear in court. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued. On Saturday, December 2, 2023, intelligence led to his interception at the Hillview Shopping Complex, where he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Earlier in the year, the suspect had been arrested for four counts of business robbery within the Waterval policing precinct. He was later released on bail by the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court for other crimes committed within the Vuwani policing area.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Waterval Magistrate’s Court on Monday, December 4, 2023, facing charges of business robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
