Counterfeit Passport Operation Busted: Three Arrested in Clanwilliam

CLANWILLIAM – Quick action from the Clanwilliam Crime Prevention Unit resulted in the arrest of three individuals aged 26, 28, and 30, on charges of fraud in the early hours of 01 November 2023.

According to South Africa Police Service, the team received a tip about counterfeit passports being produced in Khayelitsha, Clanwilliam. The officers followed up on this information and located the suspects in the act of forging passports at the specified address. The individuals were taken into custody and charged with fraud, forging, and uttering. Equipment believed to have been used in the illegal operation was also confiscated by the police. The case will now be handed over to the Commercial Crime Unit for further investigation. Once formally charged, the suspects are expected to appear before the Clanwilliam Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charges leveled against them.
