Rabat Recognized as a Top Destination by Conde Nast Traveler

Rabat – The Moroccan capital, Rabat, has been named as one of the best places to visit in 2024 by the American magazine Conde Nast Traveler. This recognition positions the city, often referred to as the “city of lights,” alongside other renowned global destinations in the magazine’s global travel guide. Sources close to the Moroccan kingdom provided this information, highlighting Rabat’s growing appeal to international travelers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Rabat is undergoing a cultural, artistic, and urban renaissance. The magazine’s feature on Rabat mentions its trendy music festivals, celebrated architecture, and luxury hotels. The year 2024 is expected to bring a wave of new developments to the city, which has traditionally been overshadowed by Morocco’s other imperial cities like Marrakech, Fez, and Tangier in terms of tourist attraction.

A key highlight in Rabat’s transformation is the Mohammed VI Tower, slated to be the tallest in Africa and uniquely designed to achieve LEED Gold and HQE certification. The tower is set to redefine the city’s skyline.

Another significant development is the forthcoming Grand Théâtre de Rabat, one of the unfinished works of legendary architect Zaha Hadid. The theater, expected to be the largest of its kind in Africa and the Arab world, will include an 1,800-seat theater, an experimental performance space, a 7,000-person amphitheater, as well as green spaces and a restaurant. It is set to host a variety of cultural performances, including symphonic music, ballet, opera, and philharmonic concerts, with its opening scheduled before the end of 2023.

The Mawazine festival, Africa’s largest music festival, is also anticipated to make a comeback in 2024 after a hiatus due to COVID-19. The festival has historically attracted global stars like Rihanna and Mariah Carey, though the lineup for 2024 is yet to be announced.

In addition to these cultural attractions, Rabat is experiencing a boom in luxury hospitality. The magazine mentions several new high-end hotels, including the Fairmont hotel in Marina Rabat-Salé, the Conrad Rabat Arzana, and the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat in Kasr Al Bahr, set to open in late 2023. The Ritz-Carlton Rabat Dar Es Salam is also part of this upscale hospitality expansion.

Conde Nast Traveler’s global guide to the Best Places to Visit in 2024 assures that Rabat promises an exceptional experience for travelers seeking unique discoveries in the upcoming year. The city’s blend of modern luxury and rich cultural heritage is expected to draw a significant number of international visitors.
