Women in law enforcement are all boots on the ground as they lead Operation Shanela in Brackendowns

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole accompanied by female senior officers and members of SAPS and other law enforcement agencies, local Community Policing Forum (CPF), Crime Prevention Wardens and local security companies took to the streets of Brackendowns today, 17 August 2023 as they and their male counterparts executed Operation Shanela in commemoration of women’s month.

The operation yielded various operational successes that included the apprehension of over 140 suspects for various charges as well as the closure of two liquor outlets for operating without a liquor license; traffic fines to the value of nearly R27 000 were also issued.

Following a multi-disciplinary roadblock, Maj Gen Sithole and her team also engaged community members through an imbizo in a concerted effort to address crime in the area.

“I urge our community members to join us in the fight against crime by reporting criminal activities to their nearest police station,” said Maj Gen Sithole.
