Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias’ statement upon arrival at the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Brussels, 04.04.2023)

Today is a very important day. First of all, it marks the 74th anniversary of NATO’s founding. But also, this highly significant anniversary coincides with the accession to the alliance of a European, democratic country, Finland. And I believe Finland’s accession has another meaning. It strengthens the perception that NATO is more than just the most successful defense alliance in history. It is also an alliance of values, which will deepen and promote these values that it stands for. International law, territorial integrity, Democracy, Human Rights.
