Ethiopia and Germany Strengthen Ties in Climate Action and Renewable Energy


ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen their climate partnership, focusing on renewable energy development and enhancing energy accessibility.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, In a recent meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian State Minister Seyoum Mekonnen and German State Secretary for International Climate Action Jennifer Lee Morgan discussed strategies to advance their collaborative efforts. The discussions highlighted Ethiopia’s progress in hydroelectric projects, such as the GERD and Koisha, and its Green Legacy Initiative, which Germany praised for its role in promoting sustainability. The two nations agreed to continue their cooperation on implementing the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and exploring innovative climate financing mechanisms to support Ethiopia’s climate goals.
