HOMA BAY – The community of Homa Bay County gathered today to honor the memory of the late NTV journalist Rita Tinina through a tree planting campaign, reflecting the widespread impact of her journalism. The event, held on the day of Tinina’s burial, saw local residents engage in an environmental tribute to the journalist, underscoring her significant legacy.

According to Kenya News Agency, patron of the Plant Trees for a Better Environment Community-Based Organization (CBO) and the Supkem Secretary in Homa Bay, the initiative distributed free tree seedlings in Kendubay and Oyugis towns. This gesture aimed to create a lasting tribute to Tinina, celebrating her contributions to the community and the media industry. Masoud emphasized that the tree planting was a symbolic act, allowing residents who could not attend the funeral to honor Tinina’s memory in a meaningful way.

The community’s response highlighted the respect and admiration that many held for Tinina. Henry Ogala, a paralegal from Homa Bay, echoed the sentiment, expressing gratitude for Tinina’s impactful work and affirming that the planted trees would stand as a tribute to her legacy.
