Ethiopia to Host TAMRIT Street Run to Boost National Manufacturing


ADDIS ABABA — The Ministry of Industry and the Ethiopian Athletics Federation are set to host the “ETHIOPIA TAMRIT 10 km Street Run” on April 21, 2024, aimed at promoting the national manufacturing sector. The event is part of the broader “Let Ethiopia Produce” movement initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in May 2022 to enhance industrial competitiveness.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, State Minister of Industry, the street run serves to highlight industrial products and foster connections among producers. Launched as a strategic component of the country’s 10-year industrial development plan, the “Let Ethiopia Produce” movement seeks to overcome industry bottlenecks and improve the business environment. The initiative has already achieved notable success in fostering import substitution, increasing exports, and expanding production capacities. Bululta explained that the upcoming street run, along with other activities like bazaars and exhibitions, aims to invigorate the manufacturing sector, promote locally produced sports goods, and attract investment. Approximately 10,000 participants, including industry professionals and members of the diplomatic community, are expected to attend the event in Addis Ababa. The top competitors in the run will be awarded significant monetary prizes.
