Ethiopia Launches Network to Empower Women in Finance

ADDIS ABABA — The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) has officially launched the Network of Ethiopia’s Women in Finance (NEWFin), an initiative aimed at promoting gender equality and increasing women’s participation in the financial sector.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Announced during a national conference dedicated to making the financial sector more inclusive for women, NBE Governor Mamo Mihretu expressed that NEWFin is a step towards addressing the gender gap in the sector, both in terms of leadership and financial inclusion. The network seeks to create opportunities for women to achieve professional growth and leadership roles within the financial industry, emphasizing mentorship, work-life balance, and the challenging of societal norms that impede women’s progress.
