Loroum Province’s High Commissioner Engages Youth in Peace and Social Cohesion Initiatives

Ouahigouya, Burkina Faso – The High Commissioner of the Loroum province, Djibril Bassolé, held a meeting with leaders of youth movements and associations in Loroum province on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Titao.

According to Burkina Information Agency, During the meeting, youth leaders expressed their concerns and aspirations to the High Commissioner. Ali Zango, one of the participants, highlighted the challenges faced in market gardening and the difficulties in selling their products. He also expressed the need for support in ensuring regularity of supply convoys for transporting market garden products.

Hamidou Niampa, president of the Loroum provincial youth coordination, emphasized the diverse needs of the youth, stressing the importance of unity and communication among them. Niampa also conveyed the necessity for the High Commissioner to advocate for the return of NGOs and development programs to the locality, enabling young people to engage in constructive activities.

Responding to these concerns, High Commissioner Bassolé assured the youth of his support, acknowledging their role as the future of the nation. He committed to conveying their concerns to the highest authorities.

The meeting comes in the wake of a protest march in October, which saw hundreds of people demand the return of the administration to the town of Titao, underscoring the youth’s active role in addressing community issues.
