Marsabit County Sees Smooth Commencement of KCSE Examinations

MARSABIT COUNTY – Marsabit County reported a seamless start to the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations on Monday, with all registered candidates present at their respective centers.

According to Kenya News Agency, the County Director of Education, the 2,780 students slated for the exams appeared at the 46 centers throughout the region. The cohort includes 1,409 male and 1,371 female candidates. In a logistical effort supported by the Ministry of Education and the interior ministry, examination papers were airlifted to the exam centers due to impassable roads caused by heavy rains.

Marsabit Deputy County Commissioner David Saruni, in a statement to the Kenya News Agency, confirmed the smooth progress of the exams, highlighting the deployment of two helicopters from Nairobi for distribution of examination materials. Saruni assured that security measures are in place to mitigate any irregularities during the examination process.

The candidate distribution across the region sees Marsabit Central sub-county leading with 1,116 candidates, followed by Moyale sub-county with 901. In contrast, Dukana sub-county has the smallest number of candidates with just 13. The Ministry of Education’s revised guidelines this year involve examination papers being dispatched twice from containers to the centers, a change from the previous protocol of single dispatch per day.
