Somalia’s Minister of Petroleum Engages with UN on Humanitarian Aid and Hydrocarbon Development

MOGADISHU, SOMALIA – A crucial meeting took place between the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdirisaq Omar Mohamed, and the Deputy Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Somalia, George Conway.

According to Somali National News Agency, the conversation focused on Somalia’s key priorities, which include the development of humanitarian aid and bolstering national security.

During the meeting, the Minister dialogued with the UN delegation to emphasize Somalia’s long-term vision, particularly its ambitious net goals for the year 2050. He also stressed the importance of fostering the development of oil and hydrocarbon production within the country.

The meeting represents an ongoing collaboration between Somalia and the United Nations, underscoring the government’s commitment to achieving humanitarian and developmental goals while promoting economic growth and ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
