Burkinabè Army Destroys Large Terrorist Base in Goubedo, Sahel, Seizing Assets and Killing Dozens

Ouagadougou — Aerial and ground units of the Burkinabè army successfully conducted an operation in Goubedo, Sahel, which led to the razing of a significant terrorist base, the deaths of numerous terrorists, and the seizure of important logistics.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, the operation occurred on October 27, 2023, and was a follow-up to an earlier action in which the army neutralized terrorists attempting to attack a convoy near Arbinda on October 26, 2023.

Following that initial action, air units continued to survey the area and discovered a large terrorist base in Goubedo, situated not far from the Dori Gorom Gorom axis. The base contained logistical fuel and ammunition depots, and several terrorists were found on the premises. The Combatant Forces quickly planned an air-land operation to neutralize the threat.

Early on the morning of October 27, fighter planes targeted the large logistics depot at the base. This was followed by attack helicopters pursuing fugitives and eliminating them. Ground units moved in to clear the base, neutralizing pockets of resistance and recovering usable weapons and logistics.

The operation resulted in the complete destruction of the base, the deaths of several dozen terrorists, and the recovery of non-calcined and usable logistics and weapons.
