Woman raped in Opuwo

A 27-year-old woman was reportedly raped in the early hours of Friday while on her way home at Opuwo in the Kunene region.

In a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Sunday, the victim was reportedly approached from behind by the suspect who pulled her into the riverbed and raped her, before fleeing the scene.

The incident happened at around 02h00.

In another incident, 21-year-old Namibian male, Albertus Albertus allegedly hanged himself on Friday at around 03h00 at Omikwayanghwii village, Outapi in Omusati Region.

It is alleged that the deceased hanged himself with a wire inside his room and his body was discovered by a housemate.

His next of kin have been notified.

In a similar incident, 35-year-old Simon Alfeus’ body was on Friday allegedly found with a steel wire around his neck in the field by a passerby at Okawambi B village in Omuthiya area in Oshikoto.

The deceased next of kin have been notified and police investigations in all matters continue.
