Deputy Governor Urges Professionalism in East African Games

Bungoma County: Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany has called on teams participating in the upcoming East African Local Authorities Sports and Culture Association (EALASCA) games to exhibit professionalism and discipline. This appeal was made during a send-off ceremony at the County Headquarters, where Mbatiany addressed athletes and officials.

According to Kenya News Agency, the importance of maintaining exemplary conduct both on and off the field cannot be overstated. She emphasized that as representatives of Bungoma County, the teams are expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship and professionalism throughout the event. The deputy governor highlighted various categories in which the team will compete, including borrowed dances from East Africa, music, handball for both men and women, basketball for both men and women, men’s football, women’s volleyball, netball, and athletics.

This year’s EALASCA games are set to be hosted by Kisumu County and will see participation from teams across East Africa. The send-off event in Bungoma County was attended by several county officials, including CECMs Agnes Wachie, Caro Makali, and David Wamamili. Also present were Sports Chief Officer Denson Barasa and MCAs Wafula Waiti and Dorcas Ndasaba, who came to show their support for the athletes.

The EALASCA games are a significant event in the regional sports calendar, bringing together athletes from various East African local authorities to compete and share cultural practices. The participation of Bungoma County’s teams in these games is a matter of pride and prestige for the local community.
