Roots Rabat: The Burkinabè delegation pays a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Morocco

Rabat, March 18, 2023 (AIB)-The Burkinabè delegation present in Rabat, Morocco as part of the Pan-African Cinema Days, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Morocco on Thursday afternoon.

The delegation led by Michel Saba, in service at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism of Burkina Faso, was received by the Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy Souleymane Daboné, representing the absent Ambassador .

The meeting between the delegation on the one hand and the Minister Counselor and his collaborators on the other hand, took place in a convivial way.

Mr. Daboné told his visitors that the Ambassador has returned to Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso and that he has been acting for only a few months.

At the end of the visit, the head of the delegation Michel Saba indicated that it was a courtesy visit which enabled the delegation to explain to the Minister-Counsellor and his collaborators, “the content of the program”. who took the delegation to Morocco “so that it is capitalized in the cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Kingdom of Morocco”.

The Burkinabè delegation composed of directors, directors of film schools and theater centers, officials from FESPACO and the Ministry in charge of Culture and journalists is present in Morocco as part of the 1st edition of Roots Rabat-Journées of the Pan-African Cinema which was held from Sunday March 12 to Thursday March 16, 2023 in Rabat, African Capital of Culture under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Mr. Saba took the opportunity to explain that “on the cultural level, Burkina Faso and the Kingdom of Morocco maintain excellent relations” in several areas, particularly that of cinema.

“When you look, from the point of view of cinema, there are many Moroccan festivals that allow Burkinabè professionals to come here and FESPACO is related to most of these Moroccan cinema festivals”, he said. underline.

He also said that the delegation visited the national cinematheque of Morocco and there were exchanges between the persons in charge of this infrastructure and the persons in charge of the cinematheque of Burkina Faso.

“At the level of film schools, the Higher Institute of Image and Sound / Studio-School (ISIS-SE) is in contact with the reference schools of Morocco including the Higher School of Visual Arts (ESAV) of Marrakech and the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Cinema Professions (ISMAC) in Rabat, which we visited,” he noted.

According to Michel Saba, “the sharing of experiences between schools in Burkina and Morocco contributes to strengthening training and strengthens cultural cooperation”.

He also mentioned the Regional Center for Living Arts in Africa which is based in Bobo-Dioulasso. It is, according to him, a category 2 center, which has a regional vocation and which was set up with UNESCO.

He declared that “since the creation of this center, the Kingdom of Morocco adheres to the board of directors and currently sits for a 2nd mandate”.

“The opportunity was given to us to salute the availability of the authorities of the Cherifian Kingdom who accompanied Burkina Faso for the operationalization of this regional structure which deals with the follow-up of the UNESCO convention on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions”, he recalled.
