Bam: The best students and teachers of award-winning Teksum schools

The provincial directorate of primary and non-formal preschool education (DPEPPNF) of Bam organized the ceremony of the 4th edition of the academic excellence of Teksum schools on August 9, 2023 in Kongoussi, in collaboration with the NGO A Batter Life Foundation and under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the province of Bam Adama Jean Yves Béré.

The 2023 Academic Excellence of Teksum Schools involved 5 of the 12 schools in the province. These are the schools of Kongoussi sector 5 A in the commune of Kongoussi, the school of Bokin and Vousnango B in the commune of Guibaré and the schools of Yaoghin and Souma in the commune of Rouko.

During the day, the 5 best CEP students from said schools each received a bicycle and a school kit.

The first 5 students per course and per division, and the first 5 CEP students living with a disability also received school kits.

The best sponsored students from Teksum schools and continuing to post-primary and secondary school were also awarded with school kits.

At the teacher level, the best per class each received a tablet and a certificate of recognition. The total cost of the prizes is estimated at more than 2 million six hundred thousand CFA francs.

The representative of Per toré Teksum, Adama Sawadogo, also director of Teksum school programs in Burkina Faso, indicated that the institution of Teksum days of excellence aims to promote quality education for the benefit of children in Bam.

“The partner’s objective is to give all Bam children the opportunity to go to school. And in this vision he also advocates the quality of education. This is why he instituted the day of excellence also called Teksum day to encourage not only the students, but also the various actors involved in the education system of the province,” he underlined.

The provincial director of primary and non-formal preschool education of Bam P. Canut Blaise Syan welcomed this initiative.

For him, Teksum schools contribute enormously to increasing the supply and quality of education in Bam.

As a reminder, Per Toré Teksum is a Norwegian architect who has been involved in education in Bam since 2006. He has built 10 school complexes that bear his name and rehabilitated 2 schools with his own funds.

Each complex includes 3 equipped classrooms, housing for teachers, a kitchen, a store and a borehole, all equipped with solar electricity. He was honored in the Order of Academic Palms in 2016 by the State of Burkina Faso for service rendered to the Nation.
