Embu Man Charged with Defiling Granddaughter

Embu, Kenya – In Embu, a 56-year-old man was arraigned in court on Wednesday for allegedly defiling his nine-year-old granddaughter. The accused, Joseph Njeru, is facing charges for the crime reportedly committed on November 17 at his home in Muconoke Village, Embu West Sub-County.

According to Kenya News Agency, Njeru denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Joanne Otieno. He will remain in custody until December 5, when a probation report determining his suitability for release on bond will be presented to the court. The arrest followed a report made at Itabua Police Station by Njeru’s wife, who allegedly caught him in the act after returning from the farm. This case highlights a disturbing instance of child sexual abuse within a family setting, drawing attention to the broader issues of child protection and legal justice in such sensitive cases.
