Ethiopian Military Leader Offers Condolences Following Kenyan Defense Chief’s Death in Helicopter Crash


ADDIS ABABA — Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force, has extended his deepest condolences following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of General Francis Omondi Ogolla, the Kenyan Chief of Defense Force, and nine other senior military officers.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the loss of General Ogolla is profoundly felt within the region due to his significant contributions to peace and security. In his condolence message, Birhanu expressed his sympathy to the families and friends of those affected by this devastating event. “The ENDF stands with Kenya during this difficult time,” he stated.



The accident occurred on Thursday when the helicopter, carrying 11 personnel including General Ogolla, went down and caught fire in a remote area near the Uganda border. Kenya has since declared three days of national mourning to honor the deceased military leaders.
