Ethiopia Pledges Continued Role in Peace and Development Across the Horn of Africa


Addis Ababa — Ethiopia has pledged to maintain its influential position in promoting peace and regional development in the Horn of Africa, according to a statement from Mesganu Arga, the Foreign Affairs State Minister, during an interview with the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Mesganu highlighted Ethiopia’s ongoing contributions towards stability and economic integration in neighboring countries such as Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan. The minister outlined the country’s commitment to constructive diplomacy and international partnerships aimed at fostering economic growth and regional peace.



The state minister’s remarks underscored Ethiopia’s strategic role in the volatile Horn of Africa region, where it seeks to bolster security and development. The country’s foreign policy, as Mesganu noted, is built on enhancing relationships with adjacent nations and supporting collective efforts for prosperity and peace in the region.



Mesganu also touched on the broader geopolitical challenges impacting the Red Sea area and the Middle East, stressing Ethiopia’s proactive engagement with the global community to promote peace and address security threats, including terrorism and piracy. He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s dedication to safeguarding its interests in the Red Sea, a crucial route for the nation’s international trade.



Furthermore, the state minister emphasized the shared future of the East African community, advocating for strengthened ties and mutual growth among neighboring countries to achieve sustainable development and stability.
