Advertisements on food and medicines: The CSC and ANSSEAT call on the media to be careful

The Higher Council of Communication (CSC) on Thursday urged the media to only broadcast advertisements on food and medicines if the advertisers present them with papers issued by the National Health Security Agency (ANSSEAT). ), authorizing them to put consumer products on the market.

“For consumer products, ask to check the papers issued by the National Agency for the Health Safety of the Environment, Food, Work and Health Products (ANSSEAT) and which authorizes the placing on the market product market, before accepting advertising for a consumer product ,” indicated the president of the Higher Communication Council (CSC), Abdoulazize Bamogo.

For Mr. Bamogo spoke Thursday in Ouagadougou, during an awareness meeting for media managers on taking into account good practices in public health relating to food, medicines and other so-called well-being products. .

The head of the CSC explained that the discussions with ANSSEAT technicians and media managers will focus, among other things, on texts relating to advertising, their operation and to discover the approach of traders to release their products on the market.

According to Abdoulazize Bamogo, media managers can contribute through health and consumption programs, in order to educate the population on vigilance in the choice of consumer products.

“If the media advertise it, it’s as if the media are encouraging people to consume products that will make them sick, that will create health problems,” he added.

“I congratulate the journalists and presenters who do the work of enlightening and educating our populations. You are doing a very useful work, even if the effect is not necessarily visible,” he added.

According to the Director General of ANSSEAT, Professor Elie Kabré, press releases have already been made on this subject to inform national opinion on the precautions to adopt when purchasing consumer products.

In the opinion of Professor Kabré, ANSSEA must open up to media people, so that they contribute to population awareness activities.

“We must therefore act together through communication to save the Burkinabè from acts of incivility and other misdeeds of society,” he concluded.
