Athiriver DCC Patrick Mwangi Advocates for Total Transition of KCPE Candidates to High School

Athiriver, Kenya – Patrick Mwangi, the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) of Athiriver, has emphasized the importance of ensuring that all pupils who recently completed the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) proceed to high school in January. This call for a 100 percent transition rate comes as part of the government’s effort to promote continuous education.

According to Kenya News Agency, Speaking at St Paul’s Primary School in Athiriver Sub County during a food distribution event for the less fortunate, Mwangi addressed parents directly. He stressed the need for responsible financial planning during the festive season to ensure that children’s education in January is not compromised. “We are still insisting on 100 percent transition for KCPE students to join secondary schools and parents should prepare their children’s school fees as they start their festivities,” Mwangi urged.

The DCC also called on local Chiefs to play an active role in this endeavor. He tasked them with ensuring that all KCPE students within their jurisdictions are enrolled in secondary schools come January. Mwangi emphasized that Chiefs should engage with residents to guarantee that no child is left behind in the transition to secondary education.

“The Chiefs should interact with the residents and make sure no child is left behind when joining secondary school,” added DCC Mwangi.

This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to education and its focus on ensuring that every child has the opportunity to continue their educational journey beyond primary school.
